Unrest || Don

About two months earlier, Manhattan, New York - The bombing

"Go!"Mac yelled the sharp command another time and gave the young teenager another shove forward. The girl ran a little hard and Mac ordered the last few people on the floor down the hall after her. Outside, Mac knew his team was working on getting the bomb squad inside to disarm the bomb that had been set up in the building. Now, running just a few paces behind the same teenager he'd just urged to get out, Mac knew they'd never make it out of the building before that bomb hit 00:00 on the timer and went off. He gritted his teeth at such a thought. He had to keep everyone calm if they were going to survive. "You're doing fine, ok? We'll get out of here,"Mac said, trying to calm the girl down again. She nodded and Mac paused in the hall for one last moment as the girl continued down the hall as Mac had ordered.

And somewhere else in the building, the bomb hit the last second before detonating, releasing it's fury on those few who remained on the floor.

Can the team find the bomber?

Don got the call seconds later from dispatch and he arrived at the building where he was met by Mac. "Hey Mac, it's not every day u get called out because of some bomb that's ready to detonate inside a building. This is a federal building. Act of terrorism maybe?" he asked.

Mac nodded. "Bet your ass on it,"Mac growled, shaking his head. He shot a look over his shoulder. "GET THAT DAMN BOMB SQUAD IN THERE NOW! WE'VE GOT MORE PEOPLE IN THERE!" He shook his head. "I've been here for three hours straight. There's 67 floors and we as a group got through the first 25 or so before the first explosion,"he reported with a nod to the upper floors of the high rise.

Don shook his head in disgust. "And why isn't the damn bomb squad doing a damn thing about it?" he asked.

Mac shook his head. "I haven't a damn clue, but I'm going back in there. I need you out here to handle operations, make sure we have units in there looking for people, ok?"

Don nodded. "U got it, Mac. But be careful in there, remember the last time u went into a building that had a bomb. I got nailed, and so did u." he said. He took out his walkie talkie and radioed for all available units to help with the bomb. "This is Detective Flack, I need any and all available units at the federal building on 52nd Street, we have a bomb in the building." he radioed.

Mac nodded and gave Don a pat on the back. "You got it partner. I'll be fine,"he said with a nod and flashing a quick smile before he jogged up to meet with the three officers that had formed up with him to make a search and rescue unit to sweep the building before heading inside with those officers.

Don was getting frustrated. The units that he had called for hadn't showed up. "Mac, we got a problem, the units I called for a few minutes ago, they aren't responding nor are they showing up. What do u want me to do?" he asked.

Mac stopped the three officers he was with and looked back to Don. "Call them again, ok? Tell them to get their asses here and that this is matter of security, we need to get these people out. Keep on 'em until they show up. In the meantime, hook up with one of the units around here and start helping these people out of here. I'm gonna head up with these guys to the upper floors. Hopefully we can save some more lives before this is all said and done."

Don nodded. "Alright, I'll keep calling these idiots." he said, sighing, pulling his phone out and dialing the units again. "This is Detective Flack with the NYPD, I need units at the federal building right away. I called u guys a few minutes ago, u said u would show up in a matter of minutes, well clearly, that didn't happen. I'm gonna be all up in your asses as long as it takes for u to show up, u got that? This is a matter of security, we have a bomb in the building. It's only a matter of time before these people inside die!! Do I make myself clear??" he asked.

Mac turned back to the three officers he'd worked with and explained the plan to make it up towards the 30th floor and work their way up, getting out as many people as they could along the way.

Don put his phone away and made his way to where Mac was. He needed his help after all. "Alright, I put another call to these scumbags, I think I scared them so they said they'll be here within seconds, even minutes. Whatever the plan is Mac, I'm all ears. Just say the word and I'm there." he said.

Mac nodded. "You come with me. I just sent those three ahead to catch up from the 25th up. I'm heading towards the 40th and up and I could use someone like you at my side with something like this."

Don studied the building. "This can't be a coincidence that this is the same building where I got my ass handed to me. All right, I'm with u, Mac. What do we know so far about this bomb, do we know the manufacturer?" he asked.

"We've got nothing so far,"Mac responded as he led Don up the stairs. "However, we've got intel that says there's at least one other bomb rigged to go off, if not more. That's why we need to get as many people out as we can."

Don nodded. "I'm on that, the more time we waste out here, the likelihood of those people dying in there is pretty high." he said.

Mac nodded and flashed what he meant to be somewhat of a joking smile. "Then you best try to keep up, eh?"he asked, trying to lighten the mood as he started up the next set of stairs towards the 40th floor.

Don followed right behind Mac. "I'll check the next few floors above u, Mac. Just in case there's people up there that need help. Unless u need me to stick behind u." he said.

Mac nodded. "I'll be fine. How about you take up towards the 45th and I'll start on 40? That should get us a good area to clear and allow us to keep people moving out of here."

Don nodded. "U got it, partner. I'll have my radio tuned in to channel two in case u need me." he said.

Mac nodded and gave Don a pat on the back. "You got it, partner. I'll be on the same if you need me, give me a call-out."

Don nodded. "U got it, Mac." he said, patting Mac on the back before heading to the floors to check and see if anyone was up there that needed help. He did come across something disturbing so he radioed Mac. "Mac, I got two bodies up here, they're still alive but it's a matter of time before they die."

Mac murmured something quickly to one last group and hustled them down the stairs before he responded, "That's no good. I'll see if I can't hook up with one of the medical units running around here somewhere and send them up." He bit at his lip. What the hell was this? This attacker had set up two bombs to bring this building, and the entire city with it, to its knees and tried to kill two people? He shook his head and urged a group of three down the stairwell quickly before racing through the still moving crowd of civilians following orders to get out of the building to see if there was a medical unit on the floor he could send up to meet Don with the victims.

Don nodded. "U uhh might wanna hurry up on that one, Mac. One of our vics is in labor." he said.

"Shit,"Mac breathed after hearing this from Don. With a lot of luck, he found a medical unit rather quickly and him and the unit of three started racing as fast as they could up the stairs. "Don, what floor are you on? Me and a unit of three of are heading your way!"
