False Accusations || Don

Mac smiled. "Good man," he said.

Danny dialed Lindsay's number. "Hey babe, just checking up on u and Lucy. Listen, there's something I need to talk to u about ok?" he asked.

"Yeah, we're both doing fine. What's on your mind, Danny? Everything okay?" Lindsay asked.

Danny stepped outside of Don's apartment to tell Lindsay what was on his mind. "Yeah everything's fine. But I have to ask u, how does Sergeant Messer sound to u as opposed to Detective Messer?" he asked.

"Danny!!" Lindsay gasped in surprise, "Sergeant? You took your Sergeant's exam? When? Why didn't you tell me?" Despite the rush of questions, there was no doubt that she was happy. She knew Danny would do great, and she also knew he had some kind of promotion in mind, and that kind of thing was one day running his own team. So to hear that it could happen was absolutely amazing.

Danny shrugged his shoulders and explained to Lindsay why he hasn't told her anything about him taking the Sergeant's test. "I wasn't sure if this was something I really wanted, Linds, I mean, I like being a crime scene investigator, no doubt, but it's been my dream to one day be a boss, u know?" he asked.

Lindsay nodded as she listened to Danny. "Yeah, I do. Did you tell Mac?"

Danny looked inside as he saw Mac have a good time with Brad and Don. "He was the first person I told. I know, I know, I should've come to u first, but yeah, he knows. Don knows too. I start next month." he said.

"Oh, stop it! It's great, Danny, it really is. I'm proud of you," Lindsay told him with a smile.

"Maybe we can all celebrate some time before I start my new duties as Sergeant Danny Messer." Danny said.

Lindsay smiled. "Yeah, that sounds like a good plan."

Danny laughed. "Sounds good. I'll be home soon, give our daughter a kiss for me. I love u." he said.

Lindsay smiled and nodded as she looked over her shoulder at little Lucy. "Yeah, I'll do that. And we love you too," she said. And, because she couldn't resist, "Try to be home as quick as you can, Sergeant Messer. You're queen and princess awaits their knight."

Danny smiled. "Sure will babe. Don and I just need to win this bet with Mac and Brad and as soon as we do, I'll be home to join u and Lucy." he said.

Lindsay had to laugh at the mention of a bet between him and Don and Mac and Brad. "A bet?" she asked, "Exactly what have you gotten yourself and Mac into this time, Mr. Messer? You know Mac is competitive, don't you?"

Danny managed a chuckle at Lindsay's question. "It's a long story, Linds. Don made a bet with Brad and Mac that he could beat them at Madden, and he didn't have a partner so he called me and I agreed. Now I'm not sure that was a good idea but I'm sure we could pull a few tricks out of our hats." he said.

Lindsay laughed. "Oh, boy... Sounds interesting! Well, good luck you and Don, then! You might just need it!" she teased.

Danny chuckled. "We'll take that into consideration, Linds. I'll be home soon. I love u." he said.

Lindsay smiled. "Alright, I'll see you then. And I love you too, Danny."

Danny hung up the call with Lindsay and headed back inside to rejoin Mac, Brad, and Don. "She took that news really well. I'm glad too." he said.

Mac smiled and nodded. "You'll do good," he said. "I know you've got what it takes, for whatever it's worth to you."

Danny sighed. "If I don't succeed, I could always come back to the lab." he said.

Mac looked over at him with an almost fatherly reprimanding glare. "Danny, I'm sure you'll do fine, but of course you could come back. You're family, and you know the door's always open to family."

Danny nodded as he took the remote control in his hand and prepared for battle. "Thanks, Mac. I'll take that into consideration. I'll just see how all this plays out for me before I decide if I really wanna stick to being a sergeant or CSI." he said.

Mac nodded. "All you have to do is let me know, Danny," he said, "Do what you think is right."
